It is a wall with a shelf, where we can decorate architectural models. We had to renovate the wall size because architect Jun Aoki’s office moved into a new office,
“How about a project, with the word “an effort” is written on it?
This project started from the remark like such Aoki's joke. As a result “A contemporary tokonoma” was born.
・On which canvas should the word “an effort” had to be written?
・Ammm…so the word ”an effort” written in calligraphy, maybe?
・Calligraphy, so it is an alcove (in Japanese word: tokonoma) ?
To this tokonoma, a periscope was fitted up in stead of flower and perhaps you would see Jun Aoki’s seat if you look through! But originally the shelf was for the models, so we planned to put Positive Film on it.We hoped them to put (decorate) photos of finished buildings and planning projects.Usually a calligraphy is decorated in tokonoma, so we placed a furniture with Jun Aoki’s calligraphy in the middle of the tokonoma
Jun Aoki’s calligraphy : 「声来枕上千年位 彩落盃中五老峯'(Chinese word)」
