"The stage, the backstage and the audience seat" Make clothes, display them at the shop and the customer buy it there. This is an one-way assembly line system. I was in doubt about this kind of shop-style. Walk around "AOYAMA", there are lots of people wearing each kinds of clothes. Then we suddenly stop at a certain shop wrapped in various informations, and buy a certain clothes. If this is compared to a stage, "clothes" in the shop, "people" looking or walking around the clothes are compared to performers. The stage and the performer, shop peoples and the customers create one newly story.This story is an introduction to the next creation and a fully new "scenario" starts from this stage. Walk around "AOYAMA", be wrapped in various informations, and suddenly stop at a certain shop. If this would be a stage, "clothes" in the shops, "people" looking or walking around the clothes would be performers. The stage and the performers create one newly story. This is not only a stage, but also a backstage to the next stage.The stage, where the clothes are displayed, and the backstage, where the shop assistant are, and the people, the customers, around the stage. The relationship between them spread out like a play within a play on the street at "AOYAMA". Thinking about this relationship, a certain idea flashed into our mind: the space between the structure (skeleton) and the interior (infill). The space appears by architectural reason. At first we cut off this space to cross-section with the shopwindow glass and made an architectural backstage. Then we used this backstage as a shop-backstage. We placed the wall between the shop-backstage and the displayed clothes, so the display and the backstage stand in line. Because we thought about the architecture, town "AOYAMA", people in "AOYAMA" and the clothes displayed in the shops, the design has . Things go in cycles. This place will create the various story in "AOYAMA" and grow up itself with the story. It is a literally "plantation" project.
